This site is dedicated to the memory of Ian Smith.
Ian Macrae Smith was born in Elgin, Morayshire in North-east Scotland on September 5th 1931.
Ian sadly passed away on Easter Saturday, April 4th 2015, finally succumbing to the debilitating effects of Parkinson's disease. He was a much loved figure in his local community and will be fondly remembered for his kindess and generosity.
Ian asked for a simple funeral without flowers and requested that he be remembered by making a small donation to Parkinson's UK to help fight this cruel condition for which there is currently no known cure.

So sorry to hear of Ian's death. He was my geography teacher whilst at DTHSB and we had a memorable lesson on volcanoes one day and lightning struck the boiler house chimney knocking off a chunk of concrete! It was one of those snapshots of memory I will never forget. He always said hello and caught up on news when I saw him in Wilmington even after I had left school. Sad to hear the news. Having entered the teaching profession myself I now realise what a great teacher Mr Smith was. I hope his family realise how well thought of he was by the boys at Dartford Tech/Wilmington Grammar. They say you never forget a great teacher and Mr Smith was a great teacher!
