I have known Ian for as long as I have known Paul, my husband. Over that time he has done so much for us. He was like a father. Always there to help when ever he could. On several occasions he made a mercy dash to meet us at airports to bring our forgotten passports or to collect us when we were unable to land back at our chosen destination. I sometimes wondered how we could have functioned without him.
Sunday mornings he used to go on a coffee crawl after church. Calling first on us and then onto other friends near-bye for a coffee and a natter.
Ian always took a great interest in people from what ever walk of life. He was a gentleman to the core and never had a bad word to say about anybody. We will miss him as he was but the sad truth is that his passing on, after the last couple of years crippled by Parkingson's, is in many ways a relief. He didn't want to live like that and who could blame him. Let's hope that this terrible disease can one day be cured.
