Deepest sympathies to Ian Smiths family and friends. A marvellous teacher who had a kind but unswerving purpose to get some knowledge into our young minds. God Bless.

So sorry to hear of Ian's death. He was my geography teacher whilst at DTHSB and we had a memorable lesson on volcanoes one day and lightning struck the boiler house chimney knocking off a chunk of concrete! It was one of those snapshots of memory I will never forget. He always said hello and caught up on news when I saw him in Wilmington even after I had left school. A remarkable teacher and sorely missed. Paul Grimmer (1978-1985)

Sad to hear the news. Having entered the teaching profession myself I now realise what a great teacher Mr Smith was. I hope his family realise how well thought of he was by the boys at Dartford Tech/Wilmington Grammar. They say you never forget a great teacher and Mr Smith was a great teacher!
